Sorsogon City Water District intends to develop a Quality Management System (QMS) certifiable to ISO 9001:2015. The District is presently preparing for the procurement process to acquire the services of a consultant who will guide and provide assistance to the Management and staff for the preparation of the said QMS.
The objective is to acquire ISO 9001:2015 Certification before the year ends. This will be done to assure that the services being delivered by SCWD is customerfocused, maintaining risk-based thinking at all times. It will place SCWD in a better position to assure continual improvement, all for the benefit of our dear water concessionaires.
SCWD has never relinquished its character and identity as a Government Owned and Controlled Corporation (GOCC) despite the perfection of a Joint Venture Agreement (JVA) with PrimeWater.
It is still a service-oriented government entity and expected to deliver public services to its customers.
Hence, the need to be at par with the best in the industry, if only to satisfy the public’s expectations and demands.
This can be done with an in-placed Quality Management System that will practicallyrevolutionize the system and procedures of SCWD. At the end of the day, this will all be for the benefit of the more than 14,000 water concessionaires in the city.
The ISO concept was popularized and introduced by no less than Gov. Chiz Escudero when he launched on June 3, 2019 the project: Development of Province-wide QMS certifiable to 9001:2015 for several government agencies in the Province of Sorsogon.
As the Governor enunciated, the ISO Certification will assure a more efficient, cost-effective, corrupt-free and constantly improving service to the people of Sorsogon.
The City Government of Sorsogon is also on its way of being ISO certified, adopting the same vision of the good governor.
SCWD simply cannot do less. On May 18, the SCWD Board of Directors, as headed by Chairman Charles Clemente III, passed Resolution Number 09-2021, approving the development of a QMS certifiable to ISO 9001:2015 for SCWD.
This is another monumental Board action indicative of the latter’s desire to deliver nothing but the best public service to the people of Sorsogon.
It is good to note that Abejo Waters Corporation, another partner of SCWD, will be joining us in the ISO journey. PrimeWater on the other hand begged off, despite the encouragement of BOD and Mayor Ester Hamor, saying that they need first to be fully compliant with the service obligations before embarking on the journey.
The ISO journey is a long and tedious one. The whole of SCWD will exert maximum efforts to attain the objectives of the subject endeavor if only to further boost and sustain the improving satisfaction rating given by water concessionaires.
