The present pandemic as brought about by the dreaded corona virus has cut deep in almost every aspect of our daily lives. Gone are the days when we freely interacted with any human being without getting sick. Gone are the days when we freely moved around and fully enjoyed our freedom to travel without any fear in our hearts. Gone are the days when we expressed our love and emotions with our hugs and kisses. Even my favorite dogma; together we will succeed and divided we fall, has lost its meaning. We are asked and even obliged to observe physical distancing. They say, this is the New Normal.

GM Engr. Eduardo P. Tejada
With all the radical changes that we are forced to follow, we can really do nothing about it but to embrace it. Looking at the brighter side, we are now more conscious of our physical hygiene. More than ever, we now value our health and wellness. The cliche - bawal magkasakit, managed to be engraved in our consciousness. Most of us are now spending more quality time with our family. The number of our hard vices even experienced dramatic fall. Most importantly, we now put premium on the value of water, not only to quench our thirst, but to ggive us that leverage against corona virus. The say, this is the New Normal.

In the daily, performance of our duties and obligations in our offices, things have also changed. Our external and internal clients have to observe health protocols. The usual handshaking with almost anybody doing business in our agency is now considered improper and even dangerous. Seminars, forums and meetings being held thru tele-conferencing are now being promoted and in some instances, mandated. More changes are expected to be forced on us. Again I say, we cannot do anything about it; this is the New Normal.

The changes, bringing with it enormous challenges, should and must not in any way affect the quality of public services we ought to deliver. While it is true that we are still adjusting to the changes, these will never diminish even iota of our true resolve to serve concessionaires with zeal and dedication. Rest assured that Sorsogon City Water District will continue to be resillient amidst the New Normal.

In deeper analysis, the New Normal is in fact giving us more golden opportunities to be better men and women for others; to be better public servants.
